On November 4th, it was learned from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs that the development of agriculture and rural areas maintained a good momentum in the first three quarters of this year, providing strong support for the national economy to continue its overall stability and move towards a new and better trend.

 

Specifically, there is hope for another bumper harvest of grain throughout the year. This year, China's summer grain production has exceeded 300 billion kilograms for the first time, setting a new historical high. The yield of early rice has remained stable at over 56 billion catties for six consecutive years. The area of autumn grain is expected to increase steadily with a slight increase, and currently over 90% has been harvested, making a bumper harvest a certainty. The annual grain output is expected to remain above 1.4 trillion catties for three consecutive years.

 

The supply quality of "vegetable basket" products has been improved. In the first three quarters, the national production of pigs, cows, sheep, and poultry meat reached 76.27 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.3%. Milk production increased by 2.4% year-on-year, domestic aquatic product production increased by 4.3%, and poultry and egg production reached 26.01 million tons, maintaining a relatively high level. The effect of regulating pig production capacity has begun to show, with a total of 36.02 million sows in stock by the end of the third quarter, a decrease of 3.59 million from the end of 2025, returning to the green zone of regulation targets. Vegetables and fruits are widely available on the market.

 

Normalized assistance has started steadily. The monitoring and assistance mechanism is effectively operating. As of the end of September, more than 2.7 million people nationwide have been prevented from returning to poverty and targeted assistance measures have been implemented, firmly guarding the bottom line of preventing large-scale poverty return. The industrial employment assistance continues to strengthen, with the total output value of the leading industries in poverty-stricken counties exceeding 2 trillion yuan, and the employment scale of the poverty-stricken population and the prevention of returning to poverty exceeding 33 million people. Regional cooperation and assistance have been solidly promoted, and the development conditions in poverty-stricken areas have continued to improve, with an increasing endogenous driving force.

 

The development of rural industries, rural construction, and rural governance have steadily improved. In the first three quarters, the added value of agricultural and sideline food processing industries above designated size in China increased by 4.6% year-on-year; Rural leisure tourism continues to heat up, and new experiential consumption scenarios such as leisure tourism, science popularization research, and sports performances continue to emerge, effectively stimulating rural consumption vitality. Rural construction is progressing in an orderly manner, and the living environment in rural areas is continuously improving. The effectiveness of rural governance continues to increase.

 

The vitality of agricultural and rural development continues to increase. We will comprehensively carry out the pilot program of extending the second round of land contracting for another 30 years after its expiration throughout the province. Currently, more than 30 million contracts have been signed nationwide. Accumulated cultivation of about 6 million family farms and farmer cooperatives. Farmers' income has steadily increased, with a per capita disposable income of 18809 yuan for rural residents in the first three quarters, an actual increase of 5.6% compared to the same period last year.
