Recently, the Shanghai Consumer Rights Protection Committee issued a consumer alert stating that some products on the market have insufficient sensitivity and are prone to pinching cats. Consumers should prioritize anti pinch protection when making purchases.

 

The reporter learned that the intelligent cat litter box is a fully automatic feces removal equipment that relies on sensors and mechanical structures to operate. After the cat has finished using the toilet, the device can automatically separate clumped dirty sand from clean cat litter, and store the excrement in a closed collection bin, eliminating the tedious task of manual defecation. At present, mainstream products on the market all have basic functions such as automatic defecation, odor suppression, and odor locking. Some high-end models also support mobile app linkage, which can record data such as cat toileting frequency and weight fluctuations, helping consumers monitor the physical health status of cats in real time.

 

The Shanghai Municipal Consumer Protection Commission pointed out that smart cat litter boxes are suitable for three types of pet owners. One is pet owners who frequently travel and travel, and when there is no one to regularly clean the litter box, the equipment can independently complete the cleaning to ensure the cleanliness of the litter box; Secondly, having multiple cats in a household can significantly reduce the burden and workload of frequent cleaning; Thirdly, for people who are sensitive to odors, the enclosed toilet design can effectively slow down the spread of odors, providing a better experience than traditional litter boxes.

 

At the same time, smart cat litter boxes have clear caution scenarios, and are not recommended for use by kittens, underweight or timid cats. Some products have insufficient sensing sensitivity, which may pose a safety hazard of pinching cats. In addition, the AI fecal analysis and health monitoring functions that the product focuses on have limited accuracy in actual testing and can only be used as a reference. Do not overly rely on them.

 

The Shanghai Consumer Protection Commission reminds consumers to prioritize anti pinch protection when purchasing such products. The Shanghai Municipal Consumer Protection Commission previously conducted a comparative experiment on 25 smart cat litter boxes, simulating 5 different clamping scenarios. Only 7 of them were able to shut down in a timely manner throughout the entire process. In response, the Shanghai Consumer Protection Commission suggests that the new device should first turn off the automatic mode and wait for the cat to adapt for a few days before turning it back on.

 

Comparative experiments show that 21 out of 25 products have a residual fecal matter rate below 1%, indicating excellent overall cleaning performance. In terms of style, open access is convenient and easy to clean, but the odor spreads noticeably; The enclosed lock has good odor and splash prevention effects, but some cats may have resistance and can choose according to their own cat habits.

 

The continuous working ability of the product varies greatly. After filling the cat litter, the optimal model can clean continuously 9 times, while the worst is only 2 times. Its core depends on the capacity of the toilet compartment (measured maximum 8.66 liters, minimum 2.32 liters). The Shanghai Consumer Protection Commission suggests that consumers should not easily believe in advertising when purchasing, and should focus on checking the size of the warehouse. Regularly clean the toilet compartment and wipe the sensors to avoid violent disassembly and cleaning, ensuring the accuracy of equipment sensing.
