The Jiangsu Provincial Consumer Protection Commission issued a document stating that brand marketing can be creative, but must not contain malice. Recently, there have been new developments in the incident. On July 15th, Shanghai Baishide Electronics Co., Ltd. was fined 200000 yuan by the Jing'an District Market Supervision Bureau of Shanghai.
According to the administrative penalty, Shanghai Best Electronics Co., Ltd. is a distributor of Logitech (China) Technology Co., Ltd., authorized to establish and operate the "Logitech G Official Flagship Store" on a certain platform. Starting from March 2021, Logitech will transfer the login password and management permissions of its account "Logitech" to the company's operations team, fully authorizing them to operate the account.
The market supervision department has found that on March 25-26, 2026, the company, as an advertiser, posted a promotional video advertisement on its account "Logitech" containing content such as "When I lower the price, you're not running over like a dog". The promoted product was the "Logitech GPW3 Gift Set" Logitech GPW Third Generation 8K Wireless Gaming Mouse Charging Desktop Esports sold at the "Logitech G Official Flagship Store", with a coupon price starting at 795 yuan.
The market supervision department has determined that the advertising copy objectively belittles and insults the personality of consumers, which can easily trigger negative associations. In order to increase the sales of the GPW third-generation mouse on the official flagship store of Logitech G, the company used the account to publish illegal advertisements, diverting consumers to bound stores. This behavior violates the provisions of the Advertising Law that prohibit the publication of advertisements that violate public order and good customs. The market supervision department ordered it to stop publishing advertisements, eliminate the impact, and imposed a fine of 200000 yuan.
In response to this incident, the Jiangsu Provincial Consumer Protection Commission reminds consumers that in the face of disrespectful or infringing behavior by operators, they should promptly fix evidence through audio and video recording, and file complaints with the platform and relevant departments. At the same time, it is recommended that consumers "vote with their feet", refuse operators who do not respect consumers, and use market choices to force relevant brands to face problems and rectify them properly, effectively safeguarding their legitimate rights and interests.
