Consumer Tip: There are some considerations when choosing pe

With the continuous rise of pet consumption, pet food safety issues have attracted much attention from society. On April 20th, the Shandong Consumer Association and Northern Pet Network jointly released relevant consumption tips.

One is to be vigilant against false advertising of "healing food" and "special effect food". Pet food belongs to the category of pet food, and its core function is to provide nutrition, not medicine. Some businesses claim that their pet food can treat skin diseases, cure tear stains, etc., which are all illegal and false advertising. Do not believe them easily. If a pet shows symptoms of illness, it should be promptly taken to a regular pet hospital for treatment and treated according to medical advice.

The second is not to blindly pursue "sky high grain prices". The price and quality of pet food are not absolutely proportional. When purchasing, it is important to pay attention to the ingredient list and nutritional composition list. The first ingredient list for high-quality pet food should be meat, and the source of the meat should be indicated; Be cautious of products with excessive addition of grains and plant protein powder in the ingredient list, as well as products with falsely or vaguely labeled animal protein content.

Thirdly, pay attention to preventing low price traps. The production, raw material procurement, and quality testing of regular pet food all have corresponding costs. Generally speaking, products that are too cheap are difficult to guarantee quality. Some low-priced pet food is produced using expired raw materials, moldy grains, etc. to reduce costs, which may result in serious nutritional deficiencies and excessive additives.

The fourth is to reject the "three no" bulk grain and homemade grain. Not purchasing bulk grain or commercially available homemade grain without production date, shelf life, manufacturer, implementation standards, or production license is prone to problems such as excessive bacteria and nutritional imbalance. If you want to feed your pet homemade food, you need to do so under the guidance of a professional veterinarian or pet nutritionist.

Fifth, pay attention to the risks of "fake imports" and "collusion" in imported grain. When purchasing imported pet food, one should choose legitimate channels and actively inspect the product's customs declaration form, entry goods inspection and quarantine certificate, Chinese labels, etc; Products without proper Chinese labels and traceability information may be smuggled, counterfeit, or expired products.

Sixth, pay attention to expired, spoiled, and odorous products. Check the packaging for damage, bloating, powder leakage, mold, and odor when purchasing. After opening, seal and store in a cool and dry place. It is recommended to consume within 1 to 2 months. If there are lumps, odors, mold, etc., stop feeding immediately.
